Used Xbox 360s

Thread Starter
Well,

I've been wanting to get an xbox 360 now. I want to get a used one from kijiji which is a classifieds site that offers stuff near my area.

Ive seen some good deals like xbox 360 premium packages for $250. I want to get one from here, but thought i should ask here first. Ive had a ps3 but never a 360; so which precautions should i take before buying one?

For example, i will likely get one that has hdmi; does that make the chances of RROD slimmer? Also, do i have to get a receipt, or will i still be able to return it to microsoft if it breaks down on me?

Any help appreciated it,

Thanks.

Well apparently they fixed the RRoD with the elite (hdmi version) also looks better in black Microsoft has a one year warranty but has extended that to three years only for RRoD cases. You do not need the receipt to return in to Microsoft to repair it, if it needs repairing you phone up with the serial number of your xbox on the back. You can however repair the RRoD with a heat gun but opening the xbox voids your warranty.

Thanks,

Does that go the same for the newer 360 Pro's as well? (the ones with the hdmis)

I have one for sale. It's been 6 months since I bought my elite, no problems yet.

the elites and some newer xbox's have a different chipset and cpu or something like that (sorry cant remember). They're called "falcons" and you can tell by the power brick. The newer ones have a smaller one. Supposedly they run cooler and have a smaller chance for the rrod.

Newer ones should also have this extended warranty but don't take my word for it. Also, RRoD on the newer 360s have been working fine. Not many newer 360s have the RRoD nowadays but that doesn't mean it'll happen. I once saw on Kotaku that Microsoft was down to 10% or something of RRoD issues. Used to been 30-40% so 10% isn't bad.

Right now, I'm on my second 360. Both 360s were/are used. The last 360 died within a years time of me owning it and my current one is still working. I decided to lap my current one and slap AS5 on it to prolong the life of it.

Where'd you find the $250 package? I'm also in Toronto, and looking for a used 360.
