I am afraid it only support PCI Express 1x (not 4x). Not sure how your RAID card will play with 1x.

This seems to be the trend with the P45 boards. Yes you can get one with 2 PCI Express 2.0 slots, but it forces them to PCI Express 8x, which will end up being a bottleneck on your videocard.

Other boards to consider:

Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3L
(ICH10) $99
Gigabyte GA-EP45-DS3R (ICH10R) $144.99

The GA-EP45-DS4P advertises 2 PCI Express 2.0 slots plus an additional PCI Express 4x slot (meaning you can run your videocard at PCI Express 2.0 16x and have a RAID card at 4x or video at 8x and raid at 8x). It is $187 though.

Thanks... I can't fit a 8x PCIe card in a 1x slot so I am probably going with a X38 then.

I just really hope the open box comes with the I/O plate.

Doesn't look like the PCI Express 2.0 8x slots are bottlenecking CF 3870's. This may be different with more powerful cards like the HD4k series though...

If you are getting the P5E and it doesnt come with an I/O plate, PM me. I have an extra Maximus Extreme I/O, which will fit the P5E and will gladly send it to you (at no cost). Also, check out my P5E/Maximus Formula thread listed in my sig below. I have directions on how to flash the P5E to the Rampage Formula. I even list the bios options to disable (there are a few not supported by the P5E default board setup) and have links to the utilities. I would recommend DLing the latest Rampage bios though.

Definately the x38 P5E Duckie.

Flash it to the Rampage formula BIOS, and it is a very impressive board, 10-20 RAM options, tRD adjustment, a little toasty, but it does have an IHS over the Northbridge so mounting an aftermarket cooler is a snap.

I hope your CPU survived, it sounds like a great overclocker.

I got the open box DFI LP UT P35 T2R from newegg. It came new. Everything in it, sealed. Maybe a shipping error, I dunno, but it's the best board I have ever owned. An absolutely amazing amount of BIOS options.
