BEST Hard drive recovery software

Thread Starter
Alright folks,

I searched around for it, but cannot seem to find what I am looking for.

I am looking for a good data recovery tool.

Problem is I upgraded from a 500 gb hd to a 750 gb hard drive.

After copying one drive to the other, they both quit working. Windows wants to reformat the dang things.

They were in external enclosures, but I moved them inside the case to see if it was a connection issue. (doesn't seem to be the case)

I'm looking for a good solid tool that I could use in the future. (preferably not a hammer, although I've thought about it) Anyone have any recommendations??

Agreed, I know I'll have to pay. The hard drive isn't wrecked, so I don't want to go too extreme. I just want to make sure the program I get is a good one. I was burned by IOLO and it's been almost a good year, and I've never been able to make use of this drive

Acronis TrueImage (you need this one)
and
Acronis Disk Director Suite (get this too anyway)

I suggest you get both of them because you'll end up with total control over every bit of data on your hard drives - literally.

This software has been around for years.. Not a freebie, but it's damned good at what it does!

Ditto to Ontrack. I also second what Manyak said - Acronis TI and DDS are life-savers.

I've had success with this on a hard drive and a compact flash card. Its free and from the people who make CCleaner.
