Wondering what to do with that $600 first-gen iPhone when you get your new 3G model next week? PalmAddicts suggests turning it into WiFi iPod if you don’t plan on handing it down or selling it. I had some other ideas but they involve explosives and/or firearms and I don’t want a visit from the ATF so I’ll keep them to myself.
Another alternative… is to downgrade your iPhone as a WiFi-enabled iPod Touch. As what an AT&T spokesperson has confirmed that neither AT&T nor Apple will prevent de-activated first-generation iPhones for serving as surrogate iPod touches. The spokesperson said: "If the [original] device is not re-activated as a wireless phone after you’ve upgraded to iPhone 3G, it will still work as an iTunes player and can access Wi-Fi.â€
