You've got some killer tangential shrinkage in that wood. I would advise picking up some quatersawn lumber to reduce that deformity. Your wood will be alot straighter if you do so.

also, if you're going to paint over it, look into some veneers. Like plywood. OSB is also a great building wood material. For what you are doing, solid 2x4's are going to be very cost ineffective.

Hey,

Thanks for the criticism

The warp is not visible (it has got smaller!) when the case it is in the upright position. And with the 'foot' it will not be an eye sore.

I am going to be filling, and priming the wood after loads of sanding to give a good look.

I am not using 2x4's it is a 220mmx20mm plank which was 3 meters long

Thats a real wierd to be 1 piece. You sure those measurements are correct?

that would be 3/4" x 8 1/2" with a 10 ft length.

Edit: NVM don't want to bring post off subject, just went over wood in school (architecture) and was noticing what the class taught me ^_^

Hey all

I did about 30 mins of work today. I only managed to cut out the back panel as I have not yet worked out where I want the Radiator to be. So here is the pictures. There is some weak places but they will be strengthened with the aluminium. The fan will fit in the hole and held in place with one of Bills grills and the aluminium.

While I was away the place we were staying had some chairs which have aluminium on either side of ply board so this is just very rough idea of what the foot and other surrounding aluminium acrylic sandwich will look like

I would also like to thank www.MNPCTECH.com for sponsoring me with their all new Vandal Switch mounting plate (click images for store link)

and thanks to www.dangerden.com
