Best way to overclock a P5K Deluxe w/Q6600?

Thread Starter
Hey all,

Just got this system last week or so, but now I really want to break it in and see what I can do with it!

Currently, I haven't done anything in the BIOS short of setting my RAM timings to what they were listed at (4-4-4-12), so it's wide open to changing up. I'd be happy with getting up to 3Ghz stable, but anything beyond that is a bonus.

Specs:

ASUS P5K Deluxe
Intel Q6600 (G0 Stepping)
4GB Patriot Viper Series RAM
BFG 9800GTX OC Video Card
Thermaltake Big Typhoon VX (air cooling)

At idle right now, I'm seeing 36 degrees per core with CoreTemp.

Any thoughts, or experiences with this board and CPU? Anything would be great. Thanks!

That chip should do 3GHz on stock volts. Up your FSB to 334MHz and make sure your multiplier is at 9. If it doesn't take, up your voltage to 1.30v. That should be plenty enough for 3.0GHz.

If you're asking for settings to overclock your system, you really don't want to do "cookbook" overclocking. You'll have no way to know whether it's a good OC or not.

If you're asking how to OC your system...read stickies.
