All of this is a freakin trick in my opinion. Nvidia and ATI might have made deals on this generation.
I disagree. I think a piece of silicon (or any product, for that matter.) is only worth as much as people are willing to pay for it. If you specifically wouldn't pay $10 for a video card, then it's not worth that to you. To the average enthusiast however, that video card may be worth $300-400.

It will force Nvidia to come out with something better, meanwhile I get my second 280GTX cheaper and were all happy, ATI and Nvidia fans.
Exactly, all this does is keep competition up and prices down.

And we reap all the rewards.

I guess the people who develop the cards dont get payed from selling the chips. I guess the events and games nvidia and ati sponsor dont get sponsored by the money made from selling the chips. I guess none of the employees who work at nvidia and ati dont get payed by the money made from selling the chips. I guess the card manufacturers' employees dont get payed by the money made from selling the cards. Starting to get it now chap?

I'm going to start some real brand loyalty.

I now only buy Zotak graphics cards. ATI and NVIDIA SUCK. ZOTAK RULES!

Wait...

Yeah, considering AMD use to have the most exspensive Processors at least until Intel came out with the Core 2 Duo.

But your joking because you already knew that right.

My mind is spinning on what to go with these days. I would of course go with what's better but it's also a tad bit hard when you need a different motherboard for Intel/AMD CPUs.

Though I know this is about NVIDIA video cards and not CPUs.

I think you forgot about the Pentium Extreme series. Don't you remember the EE pentiums that sold for over $1k?

nVidia and AMD made deals? Likely, yes. There have been investigations in the past about price fixing. They're all about business, and there is no 'hate' or whatever between them. Sccr is right: why be brand loyal? There is no reason. Are they loyal to you? I think not

And it's not really the competition that has nVidia sweating a bit right now; the real problem is the fact that they shipped a bunch of defective chips and/or chips that don't perform according to spec (mostly laptop GPUs).

Both companies do that, the kicker is Nvidia is selling an inferior product for more.

Sure and so did AMD with the FX chips.
But I'm just refering to what Licht said about how AMD does prices, meaning if AMD can-they will jack up the prices.
It's not like AMD are selling there CPU's cheap now to be nice to all of us
