Speakers For HTPC

Thread Starter
I am just using this for movies/music, and am using HT Omega Claro 7.1+ soundcard, and I want to complement it best with a nice 5.1/7.1 speaker set up, so what should I go with? I don't care about price right now, just nothing like 2K

well if you want something really good, start looking at a Home Theater Receiver + speakers

+1

I run a Yamaha Amp, 175watts per channel (true RMS) into dual 10" subs for mine.

best bang for your buck, coming from computer speakers, the Z-5500's, about 220$.

or, do you want a home theatre system, like a AV receiver, amp, monitors, center, and sub? would you want in ready to go in the box, or would you like us to build a system for you?

this is for my room, and it isn't that big at all, so would z5500 be better than a home theater system type of set up?

well, for most rooms [lets assume you have a queen size bed, and a desk, and a dresser with a TV] the Z-5500's will give you TONS of sound, quality is pretty awesome for the price, and its got the dolby decoders you need for an HTPC setup. unless you want to go with a high quality [wont be nearly as loud as the z-5500's, but will sound AMAZING] with an amp, the z-5500's sound perfect. the z-5500's get redicuously loud. depending on your housing, 2.1 might be a better option.

TLDR: z-5500's give great sound quality, are way cheaper than most basic HTIAB setups, and have the dolby decoders your need, and get REALLY loud.

Yeah the Z-5500s really are not bad for the price point, you will end up spending $200 just on the receiver for a good HT set up (Onkyo SR-505 is what I am talking about there).

hey thanks for everything,

my bed room is a lot smaller than what you described actually, so the z5500 will be perfect,

sounds great reps for all! thanks
