advice for a budget video card

Thread Starter
so I decided that any money I pump into my sig rig is basically going into the toilet. And due to the fact I don't have enough money to build a complete system I want to only put in a minimal amount of money into this one. Because I am going to spend my entire year at school penny pinching.

So this is what I had in mind
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...2E16814121243R

My max price is 100$, but it has to be a damn fine card. the main goal of this is just to get this pc to perform a little better so I can play the new stalker coming out august. I don't care if it looks like tetris, but outperforming my x1300 is a must.

oh yeah, please don't flame me on wanting to play stalker on my crappy pc, its the best I can do at the moment.

EDIT: also thinking of this card

Are you buying now, or are you going to spend the whole year pinching?

I would get a 8800GTS 320MB or a HD3850.

keep in mind this card is trash to me after I build my system, its probably going to get donated to my family. So the cheaper the better?
any comments on the card(s) I needed some advice on?

Oh, in that case... I think a 8500GT is fine. Those are $50 or 60, and perform... Decently.

Used this in a friends build. Solid card:

8800GS (aka 9600GTO). It performs more or less the same as a HD3870 but is 20% cheaper.

$80 AR: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130332

The 8800GT 256MB is also a good choice for lower resolution gaming.
