Crazy E8300

Thread Starter
My Computer is going ballistic on me and I cant figure out why, im overclocking from 2.83GHz to 3.4Ghz....

All of these clocks are at no higher than 40 at idle and 50 at load, so I dont believe temps are an issue

Stock: 1.18v 1333mhz FSB 8.5x multiplier
OC1: 1.25v 1600mhz FSB (screen went black after 20 minutes)
OC2: 1.293v 1600mhz FSB (screen went white after 20 minutes)

What in gods name is going on? More Voltage? nothing else is overclocked so I dont know what to do

strange thing is, I have ran it at 3.8GHz for hours before with no problems (albeit a fan blowing on an open case, but temperature doesnt seem to be a factor)

Yeah good point, make sure you locked your pci-e frequency to 100mhz and not the auto setting.

idd check if your ram isn't overclocked. When you raise the FSB, you autotmaticly raise your RAM aswell, if you haven't lowered your RAM;DRAM fequency you'll overclock it and that might cause the instability

If all the above fails, then I would suggest removing a stick of RAM.

The 45nm E8300 can safely have as much as 1.3625 in vcore. You might need to bump that up a notch or two. You are still below 1.3v. That can definitely cause stability problems in a higher overclock.

What's your voltage on the northbridge? If its set to auto you might be getting a little hot there (the open case/fan would most likely cool that more than its being cooled now).

Does it eventually reboot if after it goes black/white ?
