Have you tried to mess around with the Folder Options? And big icons are for girls, its all about viewing stuff in Details.

set the style you want list/icon/detial...
hit alt+t and select folder options
select view , the apply to all folders
close and exit explorer

all pages in explorer should open the way that you had selected

I wish that was true It works for a few hours tops if you do that and afterwards Vista starts messing up the folders again. It's a bug.

This exact problem happens to me every few months. In fact, just yesterday I had to do this little fix.
I've read that Vista has a limit to how many folder preferences it remembers.
Go to this link: http://www.mydigitallife.info/2007/1...t-clean-state/
and follow the instructions.
It works with both 32 and 64 bit.

Hmm, this is both good news and bad news. Good because it will hopefully fix my problem, bad because Vista can't let me do what I want with my folders.

This just resets the folder settings back to how they were after a fresh install of Vista. Once you go in and start setting them back to how you want them, the issue comes back.

NB:
I love how people are just brushing this off as an insignificant bug. It is extremely annoying. I set all my folders to list the icons in details mode, and to display the size, type and date modified columns only. In XP this was an extremely trivial task. In Vista, it's impossible.
