In that context, it sounds like you're hinted that I was insinuating things about you, so I cleared it up. Thats all.

Give me proof they were underpaid for what they do and I will eat my words.
While I can't provide you with numerical statistics, because obviously every writer gets paid differently (It's somewhat foolish to even ask for stats) I can say, that If the ENTIRE writers guild thought that they were being treated unjustly enough to warrant an all out strike in which NO SINGLE MEMBER of the writers guild worked for MONTHS, I'm going to have to say that they probably weren't being paid properly.

They may not have been being underpaid par-se(?) they weren't being paid appropriately.
For example, If you were a brain surgeon, you aren't going to want to be paid the same as a foot doctor. And while the foot doctor may be making 300k a year, which is no small chunk of change... still, you should be getting paid more than that.

You operate on brains.

Not a lot of people can do that.

I didn't mean to insinuate that you insinuated that I insinuated...never mind.

Any article about this issue should give details, as the writers' guild would not want to upset the public for whom they ultimately work. And if not, then I would tend not to believe their claims. I would also point out that although I do not know how it works with the writers' guild, many unions not only require all people in that industry to be a member (enforced by various means, both legal and illegal), but that if you do not do as the union does you are chastized and punished. My point is that just because no writers worked doesn't mean they all felt a strike was the way to go with this.

And for the record, unless those writers make less than I do, they are overpaid.

Well, you ignored my analogy clearly. and apparently you're a communist too?

And the writers guild isn't like that at all, I don't even believe its a real union... and many writers aren't a part of it, just like MANY actors aren't part of the actors guild. Its the same thing, but for different people.

Communist would imply that I think we should all make the same amount of money, but the reality is that I simply think they shouldn't make more than I when my job is more important. But such is life.

I didn't respond to anything else because there wasn't a need to.

It seems more and mroe a running trend on OCN that "The company is always right".

Apparently no one deserves fair wages anymore.

We could also reduce the pay of athletes and actors by a whole hell of a lot, but I digress.

Nah, it really does seem to be a trend on OCN and the two topics of 'company' and 'wages' are related to this exact convo.

Point blank, with the major networks trying harder and harder to do web broadcasts, writers HAD to get compensation. At this point now, writers get compensation when the show is aired on TV, why wouldn't it be fair for web-related and dvd sales compensation?

If anything, you should be mad at the Networks for your strike going on for far too long. They're the ones who had unreasonable demands.
