It doesn't happen instantaneously, dude. Yesterday was just the day that Intel dropped the prices that it sells chips at to the vendors. The vendors already have a bunch of chips that they bought at the more expensive price. I have no idea how long it usually takes, but a week would not be unreasonable (could be faster, could be slower, I have no idea).

Someone posted earlier that NewEgg generally drops the price the same day that Intel's cuts go into effect...thus the multiple "I don't see the cuts yet" posts.

The product that vendors bought at higher prices should have a "price guarantee" from the manufacturer. I forget what it's officially called in business circles, but it protects resellers from this sort of thing. Happens all the time...e.g. Best Buy isn't eating that $50 XBox 360 price cut, Microsoft is funding it.

In the past the price cuts even happened before the official price cut day as e-tailers tried to get an edge in sales over the others. This "price cut" was not as well publicized and it not as anticipated as others have been (Remember the Q6600 went from $530 to $266, that was anticipated!). With the lack of a large number of people waiting around for the price cut, they may take longer to go into effect. Thats assuming the cuts published are accurate.

Just checked out Eclipse Computers (UK) and the E8400 is around £15/$30 cheaper than last week. Price is £111

It does say 'Exclusive Web Deal' but there web deals are usual £1.50/$3 cheaper than in store price. So dont read too much into it. And the web deal for it last week had it priced at £126

Which now makes deciding between the Q6600/E8400 that much harder

It was $270 then briefly went to $210, now at $200. Looks like ZZF has the best $$$ today.
