Help Guys!! 8800GTS 512MB Strange Score

post #1 of 5
Thread Starter
I got 11529 on 3D Mark with this rig:
Core 2 Duo E6750 CPU at 2.66ghz
Intel DG33FB (yes i need a new mobo
8800GTS 512 at 700/2100
179.17 nvidia drivers
Vista 32bit SP1
2x1gb ddr 2 667 corsair xms 2
SM 2.0 - 5467
HDR/SM3.0 - 5678
CPU: 2333

I changed my CPU to Core 2 Quad 2.4Ghz and with everything else the same my score was 11200;
then with the 179.19 drivers I had 10500;
i went all the way back to 169.25 and I got 11438 (SM 2.0 - 4500, HDR/SM3.0 - 5208, CPU: 3452)

by the way Nvidia Default Settings on all tests and I didn't mess with the shader

anyone has a clue to what maybe causing this or any ideas of what i can do?

thanks

Without an overclock on the CPU...your going to find your scores rather low...

3dmark is heavily reliant on CPU for score generation. A simple overclock of 100MHz can increase a score by 500 - 750 points.

Your Sm 2.0 and SM3.0 scores look about right for the card and OC your running....so I don't think your score is limited by your GPU. I'm running a 9800GTX OC'd and my SM2 and SM3 are 5476 and 6068 respectively.

Yes I would suggest an upgrade for a motherboard. If all your trying to do is increase your 3Dmark Score I would suggest installing the 177.39 betas drivers and installing the PhysX This increased my overall Vantage score or 2k points and 3dmark 06 about 1000. Have fun and do not forget to post results....
