Lowered clock ratio and FSB and OC jumped big...weird or normal?

Thread Starter
I'm on a GA-ep35-ds3l mobo with an intel e4500.

At stock, it was set to x11 multiplier and 2.2ghz and everything else(vcore, memory) on auto.
I messed around with it at x11 and it did 2.6ghz fine, so I figured I'd play around with the multiplier.

I lowered the clock ratio to x9 and fsb to around 315. I forgot the exact number, I'm at work right now.
That put it around 2.85ghz, set ram to 5-5-5-15, +.2 to all voltages and 1.3625 vcore.

At boot up, it says E4500 2.2ghz @ 2.8ghz but when I get into Windows, CPU-Z, Everest, and Windows System (control panel) all say it's at ~3.4ghz.

Did I do something wrong? Or is that what it's supposed to do? And why is it showing 2.85 at bootup and 3.4 in windows? Temps seem fine tho, 35C idle. Lemme know, thanks.

hmmm, I forgot for sure, but I may have set my memory multiplier to 2.5 or 3. Maybe that's why? If so, would that be bad for the system and overclock as long as it's not too hot?

yea, some apps only read the max multi so they are all reading it as xxxfsb x 11 stock multi.

try 1600fsb (400) on a x8 multi, it was the sweetspot for my 4300 24/7

edit

fill out the system specs in your user cp so we c an see your setup, and dont forget to rep+ posts that help you out
