just bough 2 4870's, E8400 bottleneck?

well, i've ordered 2 lovely visiontek 4870's and i was wondering about the rest of my pc. I know that the P45 runs PCI-e 2.0 8x in cf, but that only gives a 1-5% bottleneck while being about 100 euro cheaper then a decent X48 chipset.
Coming to the point of my E8400, i am ofcourse planning on OCing it as far as i can, and i was wondering what you guy's recon should be the minimal before it stops being a bottleneck, or if it'll alway's stay a bottleneck.

You have a TRUE, so just oc it to 4ghz and call it a day. Your processor will not bottleneck the cards.

almost any C2D or C2Q over 3.0GHz will not bottleneck anything

Actually I bet you will have zero bottleneck as it is PCI-E 2.0 which is an orgy of bandwidth, I run my card with just PCI-E x16 and it's not bottlenecked.

Nice gaming rig... yer id say overclock it to 3.6GHz - 4.0GHz and you will be fine

thanks, great to hear that!
PCI-E 2.0 8x was a slight bottleneck, or atleast so the benchs i saw revealed to me.
http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/14...nce/index.html
read up there, it wasn't that bad, it just something!
I'm really in the need of this gaming rig, i'm now on a P4 with 7600 GT, have to run everything on low, and still have terrible FPS . that'll soon change!

I dunno how you can read that tweaktown article and still end up buying a P45, especially when you consider that it's comparing 4850's, and in all likelihood the bottleneck on 4870's will be worse. Did you read the entire article? I know I personally would *always* be thinking about the performance (in some cases, 50%!!!) hit my motherboard was sticking me with. But that's just me
