Haha - yeah my wife and I had a "talk" the other day about my computer spending habits. Had to buy her one of those new hardtop convertible Miata's, that bought me at least a few weeks! I was planning on buying a pair of 4870's on opening day but as it turned out, curtains were more important and I could only get one.

It's funny how all the sitcoms about married couples and the wife having 90% of all the power make so much more sense to me now lol.

Now if only I can get HGTV blocked so I don't have to remodel my kitchen...again...

AH HAHAHAHAH that is freakin funny man. We must have been separated at birth, or our wives were! Jeez man. She made me buy a new house, and her a new car (typical). I can't complain TOO much, she only made me get rid of my turbo 99 WS6 I built, but let me keep the dirtbike, and my 02 Z71 tahoe with a pumped 6.0L. I told her I couldn't get rid of the "family car" (tahoe) since it had PLENTY of room for the baby, and the stroller, AND could tow the 67 firebird to the drag strip. She says I have too many hobbies, had to give up flying since fuel prices skyrocketed, but hey, thank God for flight simulator X. =)

Those Miata's are quite the sports cars actually. You should modify it if you get the chance, i.e. overclock it

yeah, the newer ones have more pep than the ragtop older models

you seem set on upgrading to them. the performance difference you'll see won't be huge if you don't use AA alot IMO.But if it's any consolation the 3870x2's value is getting less and less as time goes on so a sale might be wise if you are going to do an upgrade soon anyways, lol

AH HAHAHA, I think there is something seriously wrong genetically with ALL of us. In pursuit of performance, no matter what it is. Took my BONE STOCK 02 Trans am, put a cammed 6.0L in it, and forced 8psi of intercooled boost into it. 540rwhp, a rear end, two t-56 6-speed transmissions, a couple clutches, and a few sets of drag radials, I had to get rid of it. Tahoe... Went mud bogging and hydrolocked the motor in it, snapping 2 rods in the ol 5.3 that had 120k on it. Had a high output 6.0L out of an 05 escalade that I rebuilt, cam, rods, pistons, heads, 11:1, headers of course, underdrive pulley, intake, exhaust, stall converter... Got it back, the stall actually flashed at 4500, instead of 2900, so it ended up destroying the stock transmission. $1800 later, I have a fully built auto and invested another $560 for a 2600 stall. Quite a bit slower off the line with the lower stall (since I had to launch in 4wd before) but hell, a 175hp shot of spray, it'll be in the 12's easy, sitting on 33" bfgoodrich all terrains. Still gets 20mpg on the highway, lol.

Haha - we'll it's nice to see we're all alike!

I had to buy her a house a couple months back - I'm fearing that she found another one around the corner she likes better so I may be moving in a month or two - I'll fight that one though!

The new miata is a fun little car - it's bigger than her last one (this is her 3rd miata in 2 years). I don't really complain about that too much since I'm on my 2nd RX-8 in...well 6 months but that's my own damn fault Apparently super chargers take the red line from 9400 RPM to 7600 RPM - which I knew, but, I just HAD to beat the WS6. Blew the engine, every component around it - sent pieces of the manifold through the firewall into the passenger seat. Basically - I would have spent probably 25K replacing it OR, just get another - so did the latter. And within the first week of owning the new one I ordered almost everything for it from www.racingbeat.com

Got so used to the 9400 redline that I dropped the transmission in my little 1987 944 Turbo Porsche - 5500K later he's back on the road every saturday

One vehicle I have that I don't think will ever die, or be killed, is the Dodge Ram 2500 Series 4X4 Sport holding the lovely V10. If it's ever icey, bad weather, anything - the wife is told to take that because it's a tank. And I don't care if it gets driven off the highway, now if it could only get more than 8 mpg.....

AH HAHAHAH sounds like my wife, have lived in my house for just over a year now, it's okay I guess, market kinda crashed RIGHT after we bought, so we lost $40k in value in a year which sucks a big one. 9400 to 7600 is QUITE a ways man, I could imagine stuff coming apart lol. Only car I've ever had that'd stay together even at 7600 is my 67 firebird, had a solid roller, forged 464ci (7.6L) pontiac drag motor in it. Amazing what 2900lbs and 700hp will do! You're still crazy though bud.

That's too funny about the ol truck, old reliable, ever family has to have one like that. EEesh, but damn... 8 mpg, that's a rough one. That's about what I get in the hoe in TOWN. lol. Our little ultima (2.5S, eesh...) that we just got gets 35 on the highway and 23 in town, BIG difference. Sucks going from 450hp (in the hoe) down to 175 in the car, but whatev.

Yeah the lil RX8 gets about 18mpg IF I can keep it under 75 - which doesn't happen often - with premium gas prices as high as they are I am inches away from a damn prius - maybe paint a better looking car on the side of it lol - optical illusion. Oh well, anything is better than the twin 30 gal tanks in the truck and only getting a whopping 460 miles to the full fill up lol.

Chat with you boys tomorrow.

AH HAHAHA that is so honkey tonk man, I love it. 60 gallons and 460 miles, that has GOT to hurt. Costs you freakin $300 to filler up! Be cheaper to rent a plane and fly where you're going! Eeesh on the prius man, great on gas, but aren't you right, that is one beat lookin car. Optical illusion LOL! That would be classic man, even a vinyl wrap of another car would be cool.

BTW - The 4870 stomps the x2 in Crysis so bad it's not even funny. I'm running the natural mod, vsync (so it stays at 60fps), with everything on high (DX9 mode) except the other items that are all custom (from the system.cfg file created by the natural mod) and it sticks at 60fps all night long playing @ 1680x1050. Very, very happy so far. Have it clocked at 790/1090 and fan at 70% (no hotter than 61c load) using ati overdrive. Considered pulling the blue wire, but the fan is quite a bit noisier @ 100%, and I'm pretty happy at this current state, so when my patience runs out on overclocking, hopefully they will have support with rivatuner and/or atitool for the 48xx cards. =)
