I have a friend who has a Compaq Presario F500 he says it won't turn on.

Any experience/suggestions?

lol yeah sorry I know it's rather vague that's just what he told me nevermind I think I figured it out. It goes to the windows vista loading screen but then stops then so I'm gonna say bad installation of vista. Right?

He can just re-install it? Or doesn't it boot at all, because that's something else.

My cousin had this problem his CPU usage was @ 100 percent non-stop causing his laptop not to boot properly and crash. Try reinstalling vista.

If it gets to the vista loading screen, before you reinstall, try this:

Put in the Vista disc and boot to it. From there, select repair. Tell it to repair startup, and it should be able to fix it. Works most of the time for me. I always try this before reinstalling. It's pretty effective.
