What is the best mp3 player out there? - Page 3

here is food for thought ipod vs zune:

The single best part of that comparison is the "Preloaded Virus"

I actually laughed out loud...

You know, there are 3rd Party programs that are as sleek as itunes/zune software and are much more lightweight, play more formats, and synce excellently with your ipod/zune.

Besides the obvious, J. River Juxebox/media player is one of the best. It comes preloaded with tons of playback features and options, and you can load way more 3rd party plug-ins. Winamp is pretty decent with sync/loading support as well. And if your into really customizing and tweaking, the little more extensive and less user friendly foobar2000 is excellent media player :]

i have a tweaker that lets you sync the zune in winamp and WMP. let alone, i have tetris, space invaders on my zune, and attempting to get doom on also.

I think sony has very good sound quality, but I don't know if they have players that match the size that other brands have to offer. I just came across this thread posted in the news section, it might be of some help (though I found it rather simplistic): http://www.overclock.net/hardware-ne...layers-sq.html

BTW I am really into giving rep to people who help me... I know I sure find it nice for people to rep me when I try to help them out, so I do my best to rep people who take time to help me
I just used winamp to copy files, I guess you could use WMP as well, whatever program works for you.

The bluetooth was handy for jogging, I could connect my cell to it and dial through the mp3 player and the built in mic was great for phone use.

I have owned plenty of mp3 players, including the ZUNE and a few i-pods, some creative units, lots of generic brands, etc... I personally only use an i-pod now, because I can easily choose the quality of sound that I want, and the I-pods are compatible with far more devices than any other mp3 player. As for the sound quality side, that will depend on the bit-rate you decide to use when riping cd's, however, if you plan on buying music online don't count on good sound quality from almost anywhere. I will say stay away from the ZUNE, Microsoft and I had a very long and heated talk about the quality of software, compatibility, and the fact that the ZUNE is not "windows play for sure", heck they didn't even make the software for it, let alone the unit. I traded my ZUNE for a 30gb i-pod video. I do feel sorry for the poor sucker that traded me. I did like the Zune as a portable unit, but the software is horrid at best, and nothing is ZUNE compatible, at least nothing worth using.

I have the Cowon D2, its a small MP3 player that's upgradable with SDHCs. Plays video, has FM radio tuner, touch screen, and great sound quality.

If you care about sound quality your only choice is a Cowon. Yes they are pricey but as the have flac playback in addition to a very large amout of supported codecs compared to other players. A3 is just about the best of the best.

I really like my Zune 2 80GB. I prefer it over any iPod. However I haven't tried any of the others mentioned.
