New build <$2000 - Looking for suggestions

Hey all,

Ran across this forum and I think all of you offer great advice.

I'm looking to spend around $2000 for a gaming rig, and looking for config options. My main requirements: Asus Mobo, X38/48, HD4850/70 in X-Fire, and considering a quad core processor. No monitor needed.

I'm open to suggestions..also, I noticed many of you recommend alternatives to Asus; curious if it's a price-point issue, or if there are better performance boards out there?

Thanks in advance!

Ok, I stepped away from the Asus motherboard, and choose a DFI. Asus makes great boards, and I love them, but they have made some boards that aren't up to their usual standards lately. Thus, I decided for DFI, which is excellent in terms of quality, and offers more overclocking tools than you'd ever wish . All from Newegg.

Wow, thanks you guys - can't believe how fast you replied, Chozart! It sounds exactly along the lines of what I'm looking for - will "take the plunge" and try DFI. Thanks again for your help!
