Noctua NH-U/C12P - Page 50

When I found out the true wouldn't fit with the side fan I was thinking about ordering the clear side panel for the Cosmos S but people that own it say that the side fan helps with the temps. If it really doesn't than I might just get the clear side panel and a TRUE (will lap)

You would be more likely to have to get rid of the fan with the TRUE than with the Noctua. But if you want to get a TRUE, lap it, add the washer mod, and get an expensive 38mm noisy fan, we won't stop you. We are just saying that the Noctua comes all ready for you in one nice little package, with an amazingly quiet fan (corky dorkelson..testify, brother!), a smooth flat bottom, and the best Austrian engineering and customer service.
But the TRUE really is better.

Hey if the Noctua is that much quieter than a TRUE than HEY! I am going with NOCTUA. I rather give up some degrees but have a quieter running rig. I'm planning on getting an i7 920 later this year and hopefully getting it to 3.8-4.0. I've seen some people with i7 920 @3.8 w/ Noctuas so I'm fine with that. Is anyone running their Noctua on a i7 and do you guys keep the stock fans on there?

I don't have an I7, but I am running the stock Noctua fan, and it seems to keep my temps quite low(about 53C). I got a pretty big OC going, so I can't complain. Quiet as hell.

Got another Noctua fan on the way for some ultra-quiet push-pull.

Hey guys this thread isn't to argue about which cooler is better. They all prove to hold their own in different situations and are for different people...Performance is back and forth too. I hate being seen as a Noctua "Fanboy", you don't want to become fanboy's do ya guys?! Thats against everything Noctua stands for! .

If I take out the micro grooves and smooth down to copper, won't that make the gap a bit bigger between the HS and the CPU once mounted, I want to use some MX-2 and really drop my temps a couple Celsius.

Help will be appriciated with rep.
Since the Noctua uses pressure springs, the cooler will still be held on very strong by the springs, no worries.

Nah don't go that expensive for Tricools. E-mail petras, they've ordered that kind of stuff in for me before. They're really good people.

Eh I don't know. I have even an 80mm side fan. I never really cared to check how MUCH of a difference it makes, but it definitely helps with case temps, i have a sensor. I like mine, wouldn't give it up either

Wasn't easy to give man I tell ya, I just might go back to it, you've got me loving the idea.

I emailed Alex from Petra's.
Code:
Hey Alex, I've been looking at Yate Loon fans, I ran across the 120mm
Yate Loon D12SL-12 fan on your site, and I was about to order four of
them before I realized they were a mere 38.5 CFM. I found the 88 CFM
D12SH-124UB over at www.frozencpu.com, however, they are only
available in blue. I've looked all over and cannot find 88 CFM Yate
Loon fans available in red. I was wondering if it would be possible
for you to get some D12SH 88CFM fans with red LEDs from Yate Loon for
me?

Well, I just ordered my Noctua NH-U12P, some more Artic Silver 5 since I'm running low, and a single Rosewill RFA-120-RL 120mm 4 Red LEDs LED Case Fan - Retail for Push-Pull.

If Petra's can get me the Yate Loon 88CFM fans I'm looking for at a good price I'll probably be ordering 3 of those, since they are a higher CFM than both the Rosewill fan, the stock Noctua fan, and my rear 120mm case fan.

Hopefully they can get me them and still give me the 4/$23.50 deal they had on the 38.5 CFM Yate Loons

Do NOT mix fans for a push-pull unless your idea of a good time is burning out one fan faster than the other!
