4850/4870 power supply question

Will the power supply in my sig. rig be ok with a 4850 or 4870.

Here is a pic of my power supply its a 500 watt apevia i got with my old qpack2 case.

The Apevia 500W only has 280w on 12v rails. That's kind of low for a 500w PSU. 4850 is 110w and 4870 is 150w. It may work but I won't try it. See if you can save some money to get a soild PSU. I don't know your budget, you should pick a PSU like at least.

It should be alright for a HD 4850 although it will be pushing it. As for the 4870 I wouldn't do it.

Ok the thing is if i get the 4870 i doubt it will fit with my ****ty micro board in my sig therefore i would have to buy a new ps,mobo to get the 4870 which really isnt in my budget atm.

my 4850 arrived before my new corsair 550vx. and it ran fine on my ~3 year old 430w thermaltake, although I did underclock the card just as a precaution, still blew my OCed 7900 out of the water

I'm thinking its enough. The companies recommend a PSU thats usally noticablly more than what you acually need.

I'm thinking underclocking might not affect the power comsumption that much but ehh :/.

For a dual core system with HD 4850: 400w-450 is plentiful.
