I read that, and they were only able to overclock there processor to 3.0 GHz . I wanna know peoples highest overclock anyone got using there phase change cooling. Hopefully they get over a 3 GHz overclock, otherwise i would be completely discouraged . >.<

Are you thinking of doing it to the same chip? Because a lot of chips get over 3ghz on air cooling, like the core2duo chips, core 2 quads, etc.. Those chips can get over 4ghz on just water, not to mention phase change. Filling in your userCP rig details would be a big help

edit: oh, nevermind. Your wording threw me off. Ya, 3ghz on phase is a pretty sad overclock.

You're kidding right?

This was published in 05 with an Athlon cpu. That's a good oc for that generation. And if you would do some research, you would know that AMD chips are cold bugged.

Oh and NT with the rep abuse. 40 rep and only 8 unique?

That review is THREE YEARS OLD! 3GHz on a Athlon was ok back then.
Once again...

Actually only a certain percentage of them were coldbugged and it got mroe so with the AM2 chips.

Most 939 were not coldbugged allthough some were. Earlier most were not cold bugged.

In that time 3.0ghz was a great oc for amd chips. I had several 939/am2 chips that would barely do 3.0 under phase.

Thanks for the clarification Max!

What does it mean for a chip to be cold bugged?

i believe it means that u can only cool a chip so much b4 it just stops responding all 2gether.

A coldbug is a temperature where the CPU will no longer operate below.
Coldboot is similar, a temperature a CPU will not turn on below.
Going below this temperature just ends up in freezing, not killing a chip.
