Would a 4870 or 4850 work with my DFI LANPARTY DK P35-T2RS

Thread Starter
I currently have a year and a half old ati x1900xtx video card and am looking to upgrade. The motherboard I have doesn't have pci express 2.0(http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813136043) so I don't even know if the 4850 or 70 would work and if they did if it would be worth spending the money since I am not running a pci express 2.0?

I was always told PCIe 2.0 cards will work with PCIe 1.0.

Apparently graphics card don't even utilize the full bandwidth of even 1.0 so it doesnt really matter. (As far as I have been told)

Wait for a more experienced answer though.

Of course it would work.
P35 is just as good as x48 with one card.
The dfi p35 boards can overclock better than some x48 boards.
I'm able to overclock a b3 x3210 (2.1) to 3800mhz on a dfi p35.
The only problem is in crossfire, where I believe it's on 4x instead of 16x for 2.

It would work, as of right now we really have no use of 2.0. 2.0 is compatible with 1.0 and soforth

My HD4850 works in my 1.0 Mobo... See Sig Rig!

Not sure of how well your current card is or what you play... But the HD4850 is a huge leap from my prevous card (8600gt). I am now playing my games at full eye candy @ 1280x1024 (old SyncMaster 730b).

I only play 3 games, So I am not sure how it would do in Crysis... but in the following games it works perfectly!

COD4

With 4800's or even 3800's you'll need to go PCIe 2.0 to get full potential of the cards otherwise like P35 you're holding your video cards back.

I am not sure about that... Not at this point anyway.

I am a COD4-alohic and I play @ 1280x1024 res with full eye candy. Everything Maxed... I get from 70-90fps which is slightly higher than I should be getting if you compare it to this chart. I would assume that those guys used a 2.O mobo in testing... Again an assumpation...

Untrue. PCI-E 1.1 still supplies enough bandwidth for any of the current cards.
