Sadly though, none of these sites did benchmarks with an OC, they just tried to see how high they could OC it, so maybe it is great, but until someone actually benches a Q6600 and this one at say 3.2, I would wait.

Although Intel Quad processors have TDP of 95W, their power consumption is usually the same as the underclocked 65W phenom according to the reviews I have seen. So, the 65W phenom doesn't have any advantage over the 95W Core 2 Quad in energy efficiency.

In my opinion, the 9950 and new 65W phenoms are not that good, and they are not good enough to compete with Intel

This processor is just a 9850BE with it's default multipler set to 13x instead of 12.5. Is this right?

There hasn't been any process improvements to improve stability? If the process has matured you should see a higher overclock ability right? Does anyone know of any?

Out of curiosity, where did you find the NB/memory controller info? I would think they would suck more than 15w, especially with a quad.

It seems that many people here don't know the fact that most of Intel processors consume much less power than their rated TDP

Please check this

Source

This is the power consumption of the processors alone, not the total system draw. If you notice non of the Intel processors consumed 65W at full load. And it seems that wolfdale processor consume only around 50% if its TDP at full load !

However, since most Intel motherboards are usually more power hungry than AMD motherboards, the difference in total system draw between AMD and Intel is usually smaller than comparing Intel processor vs AMD processor alone

So, yea Q6600 has TDP 95W, but in reality it does consume much less power than its rated TDP

Leakage current is the main cause of this. Intel's process is a bit more high quality. Intel has been ahead of AMD in the quality of their process tools in many area's (lithography,etch,etc.).

This may change with the introduction 45nm process technology in AMD. New high-k insulating materials need to be used instead of the poly-crystaline silicon used in the 65nm process technology. But something tells me Intel will have the edge here too as they probably use higher quality lithographic scanners for this node than AMD.
