GTX 260 OC. (I just brought a GTX 260 was it a good move)

Thread Starter
I just brought a BFG Over clock GTX 260 896MiB (£215)

Core Clock: 590MHz
Shader Clock: 1296MHz
Memory Data Rate: 1998MHz
Processor Cores: 192
Shader Model: 4.0
Texture Fill Rate: 36.9 Billion/sec.
Memory Interface: 448-bit
Memory Bandwidth: 111.9GB/sec.

I’m a bit worried now because I have read forums

That the ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB (£190)

ATI Radeon HD 4870 GPU @ 750MHz
512MB GDDR5 Memory @ 3600MHz
24x custom filter anti-aliasing (CFAA) and high performance anisotropic filtering
PCI Express 2.0 support
256-bit GDDR3 memory interface

That ATI Radeon HD 4870 512MB will out perform a BFG OC GTX 260 896MB

How true is this?

P.S. I upgraded GPU from a Asus 8800GTS 512MB 92G was this a good move?

P.S.S. The only reason I got a GTX 260 is because I want to Tri SLI on my Striker II Formula.

The GTX 260 performs better in GRID with 4 AA at res of 1280 x 720 I get about 60 to 90fps some time I hit the magical 100fps. The GTS 512 was getting about 50 – 70fps. It’s nearly a 20fps increase.

I may give the GTX 260 OC a bit of a manual overclock will I get more fps or is it not worth it?

I have never played Cyrsis and don’t intend to.

use evga precision/riva tuner to oc it some more of course, you know we don't settle for out of the box specs at OCN

seems ok, I mean , are you happy with it? , if your doubting your purchase then maybe you should return it if you don't feel right and think another card would be better, but to me if you like the performance increase you got by upgrading then keep it!

Yeah i love GTX 260 i just don't like paying over the odds if you can get better performance from a cheaper card.

yeah that's the only down side, but are those cards gonna be reliable as the card you have?, maybe, maybe not..why not just stick with what you know work's best

The 4870 is probably the card to go with, seems to be a little bit cheaper and little bit faster. That being said, if you don't want to go through the hassle of returning and buying another card, just keep your GTX 260, its not like its a bad card or anything.
