[d-l] GeForce 9800 GT Goes On Sale In China

According to the source, in China you can already buy yourself a GeForce 9800 GT made by the local Haier company. As you might know, such cards have been actually expected since mid-spring, but NVIDIA hasn't yet announced them officially.

9800 GT should differ from 8800 GT by a core made according to a finer 55nm process technology. At that GeForce 9800 GT will have GPU/shader/memory clock rates of 600/1,500/1,800 MHz, i.e. the same as its predecessor has.

We believe the novelty should be announced worldwide in the nearest future, supposedly with an MSRP of 120-140 USD.

55nm!

We all know the 8800GT is a champ folder.. This one ought to allow even better clocks and still a nice price.. Perfect folding card.

Can't wait to see how these overclock. I am really loving Nvidia's history of very nicely overclockable mid-range cards.

so does it have some performance over 8800GT or is it just 55nm? coz if it is ... plain marketing by nvidia .. no reason to go to 98GT when the 88GT works VERY well on a 500W PSU

The 9600gt performs close to a 8800gt so one would expect the 9800gt to best a 8800gt and then some.

well their starting the 55nm refresh, they gotta have some products out with 55nm when waiting for their high end cards ready for the shrink.

Lol, why would you buy a card just for folding?
You gain nothing from it.
