Not as simple as that. Nvidia is changing the benchmark itself. The benchmark you are running isn't the same as the guy who has a 4870 is running thus throwing the point of the benchmark out of the window.

This appears to be something different.

When you install a Radeon you can't get your PPU back to work since NV overwrote the original DLLs

So much Nvidia hate on these forums nowadays. Remember when the 8800GT came out and Nvidia was a saviour for bringing out a great card at a great price that started these low price wars? If anything we shoukld be thanking Nvidia for starting it all with the 8800GT!

OT: If Radeon owners can't use PPU files, that is unfair. But if Nvidia has found a way to make their system better than ATi's without limiting ATi users then I think it is completely fine. Either way, I hope Nvidia can explain itself.

actually 8800gt was rushed to steal the thunder from 3870,remember the non availability and the price gouging which even every reviewer mentioned about?
ati did drop prices on the 3870 after the introduction of 9600gt,but 8800gt starting the price drop is nonsense,if 3870 hadn't arrived at $220 there was no way nvidia was gonna sell a gpu better than the g80 GTS,which went for $300 that time, and competing with the 8800gtx at a lower price.

editn another note,if 3870 had performed better than the 8800gt you would have seen it go down in more in price, nvidia did try something similar this time but the gtx260 failed to beat the 4870 and they had to lower it much more than what they did with the 8800gt.

I fixed your statement.

You can't judge a computer by 1 benchmark. Benchmarks should be done on x game starting at Y frame and going to Z frame. Some sites do this, and it paints a more realistic view of cards actual performance.

Remember the 8600's?

I forgot about the timing of the 3870. Thx for pointing that out.
