3870 vs 4850 question

Thread Starter
Hey guys, a quick question: whats better- 3870 or 4850? Someone said 3870 is 1/3 faster but I find that hard to believe. It may be true I haven't seen any reviews comparing those two cards yet. Thanks for answers.

The GPU on the 3870 is faster and the ram is GDDR4 as opposed to the GDDR3 on the 4850. For lower resolutions and low AA/ AF the 3870 should be the victor AFAIK!

The 4850 is MUCH faster then the 3870.

I own both cards, it's night and day how much faster the 4850 is.

haha, someone got shutdown. yeah id imagine that a 4850 would be a pretty brisk ride on the bullet train compared to a 3870 lope across the country side

Toms Hardware: Radeon HD 4870: Better Than GTX 260! This has bench marks with I think all of the latest cards.

Yep 4850 over the 3870... A 3870 X2 keeps up with the 4850 but considering the price of a 4850 is so low and uses less power and runs cooler its def worth getting the 4850.

Cant wait to get my SIG rig up and running at the end of this week... Everything is now in transit to me.
