Big Problem - Need Advice Quick

PSU!!! :swearing:

Anyway I bought a x1650 pro AGP since my 6800gt lasted me 5 minutes when I bought it from eBay. On startup it gives this blurred red thing which I think is the bios logo for Biostar; also on startup I open my case and can tell my PC fan slowing down which doesn't normally happen so it's probably the power draw from the x1650 reducing power to the heatsink fan.

So I have stuttering HD playback which I could play fine with my ONBOARD and games and normal video stutter every five seconds or something. Also I can't even play Youtube videos fullscreen without stutter (again I could play them fine with onboard).

I just bought the card from eBuyer about 2 weeks and first the card was ok but not good but it's got worse and it caused BSOD's and it corrupted my HDD. So I think it is the PSU so I want to replace it if it is the case.

So if it is the case my Generic Winpower 400W PSU needs to be replaced please could you suggest alternatives.

I am currently looking at buying Hiper 425W PSU. About this PSU it has two 12V rails at 17A and since the card needs about 20A will it be fine linking up two rails. And how is this done? Connecting up two seperate molex's coming from the PSU.

Here is an image of the Hiper's specs

Edit: I need the PSU recommendations from UK sites and the PSU needs to be between £20-£30.

I've never heard of HIPER before... I mean IMO it's either the PSU or the video card. Some problems sound related to one or the other. If your fans are slowing down, then the PSU probably isn't pushing enough power out to keep everything properly running.

Yeah, my dad bought me a barebones kit, which is what I have now, heavily modified. It came with a Generic 400W psu, and when I went to upgrade to an AGP card I had all sorts of problems. So I bought the 550W PowerUp PSU in my sig system for 30 bucks off Tiger Direct, plugged it in, plugged in my 7600GS AGP, and the rest is history.

For 20 - 30 pound u won't find much good. If you can spare a little more, go with this high-quality psu:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/131052

You can use it for a next build also.

I recently bought this :

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/135159

I am hoping to run a HD 4850 with it in the very near future. Just a little over your budget but not as much as the Corsair. Of course, the Corsair is slightly better but this PSU is very efficient in itself.

It doesn't seem to be much better than the Hiper you suggest, yet have a look anyway.

I want to save money for my next build. Also would 33 Amps power a 4870 CF rig?

33A? surely no. you would need atleast 3 or 4 18A rails.

Well what I don't get is for AGP since only one molex connects to the card does that mean only one rail of power to the card. Or does it get an extra 18A from the AGP interface and 18A from the molex connection from a PSU with two rails.
