[TWL]Phenom 9950 review @ stock and @ 3.0 - Page 2

Motherboard: Asus M3N-HT Deluxe

Processor:AMD Phenom 9950

Graphics:NVidia 8800GTX

Ram:4GB Kingston HyperX DDR2-1066

Hard Drive:2x 320GB Seagate Hard Drive (Raid 0)

Optical Drive:WriteMaster DVD Burner

Power Supply Unit:Antec TruePower Quattro 850 Watt

Operating System:Microsoft Windows Vista x86 Ultimate
That's the test system. I am unfamiliar with the mobo and the graphics card is over a year old. That said I really wasn't expecting much from any AMD CPU this year. Maybe AM3 and K10.5 will fix things next year, but as it stands Phenom is the new netburst.

So it goes Q9300>Phenom 9950>Q6600
No more like q6600>q9300>phenom 9950.

1. 3DMark = :turd: when showing potential
2. All this article really shows is that OC doesn't see any HUGE improvements.

I want a comparison to other Phenoms and the Q6600.

my 2180 pulls about 2.5k ....so its not too good considering this is AMDs flagship chip & the 2180 is the buget intel offering....

The Q9300 has a low multi making it harder to OC compared to the Q6600.

That't not true at all. Netburst at 3.0 could barely keep up with AMD at 2.0. That's a way bigger differnce than the new chips. Core 2 Quad @ 2.66 is like a Phenom at 2.3-4. WAAAAAAAY smaller gap. The Gap between core 2 and K8 isn't even nearly the gap between netBUST and K7/8.

So yeah....QT!!

So 4700+ for the 9950 @ 3.2 in 3D'06?

Not too shabby, but I don't understand the difference between the 9850 & 9950? They're both 'Black Editions' so their multipliers are unlocked, but the 9950 comes with the multiplier set .5 higher and costs more?
Why not just buy the 9850, move the multiplier up .5, and save $40?

What am I missing here?

EDIT: I'm asking because I want to upgrade to a black edition phenom and a 790GX/SB750 mobo.
