VPN Problems

Thread Starter
Ok i just recently setup a vpn on my computer and now i am having problems with people connecting. One person is able to be connected fine, but as soon as another person trys to connect it either kicks off the first person, or doesn't let the first person on.

I have a 6meg/1meg internet connection connected wirelessly(between good and excellent strength) through a Dlink DLG-4300 router. My computer specs are:
Pentium 4ht 3.57
1.75Gb ram
Nividia 7600gt
Gigabyte Ga-8n-sli

*Edit*
I just noticed in my network tab in the taskmanager i have a new connection, i am pretty sure it is related to the vpn, but the peculiar thing is it says its speed is only 28kbps, i mean c-mon there's dialup better than that. Any insite on this would also be appreciated

Need more info. Like what vpn software you are using. But mostly it sounds like its set up for only 1 client at the moment. Post what software you are using and we can go from there.

ewww xp built in VPN lol. Ok is each computer trying to log-in to the server with the same user account? That might cause this. Also make sure your IP Address space you assigned is big enough. If it was say 192.168.1.1-192.168.1.2 it most likely wouldnt work since the server would be using one address and the first client would be using the 2nd address so there would be no addresses left for a 2nd client. I see you have Hamachi on your comp already why not just use that? I would be much easier to get working right anyways. Hamachi>XP VPN

Well the reason i initially created this VPN was b/c during supreme commander games(its a rts), when playing over hamachie it would get very slow. Say my team is facing two AI's, for the first 15-20min it would be fine, but as time whent on the game clock would get slower and slower, to the point were 1 ingame second would equal 3-4 real seconds. I know it is not a computer issue b/c when playing single player i never have any issues, i am just speculating that hamachie might be interfering somehow, and wanted to attempt to use my own vpn to solve it. Also that would be great if you knew of better vpn software, i wasn't able to find anything other than client-side vpn software when i searched.
As far as having a large enough ip range i initially had it set to assign automatically via DHCP, i now have it changed so their are 7 ips available, ill updated as soon as i am able to test under this new configuration

OpenVPN works great but it can be a bit intimidating. Well any software where you have to use a config file to set it up can seem that way But check those things i mentioned first before you go off trying to figure out OpenVPN

Wait... you can play Sup Com on that PC???? I'm astounded... When i was playing that game i had AMD FX-60 OC'd by a lot, 2gigs of ram, and 7800GTX and with 3 players building like mad it really slowed down at times.
