OC problems with my Asus P5Q-E

First of all hello guys. I'm having a few problems overclocking (or just setting to standard clock) ANYTHING in my PC. No matter what settings I enter, if it's not all on auto, it won't boot into Windows but tell me that the "Overclocking failed". I then have to revert my changes and it'll boot normally. I'm not running my RAM at their specified speeds, because I can't even change that without getting the message. Any help for a desperate noob?

I bet your ram voltage is too low, bios might have it at 1.8 on auto, set it manually to 2.1v

I set it manually to 1.98, thought that would be enough, gonna try again with 2.1 though, thanks

EDIT: nevermind, I got it to work. My problem was that I increased the voltage with the + key instead of entering it with the numpad. Apparently the BIOS doesn't like that.
