9800GX2 problems

Thread Starter
When I play games my Screen flashes black lines across the screen, and my game lags, i get 1 FPS.. This is happening about every 5 min's or so..

Let me describe a little better...

My game locks up, then black lines start flashing, while the screen blinks and the color gets messed up. With my FPS hitting 1 FPS..

Drivers: 175.16
OS: Vista Ultimate 32bit
Idle: 50c
Load: 57c (cod4) 65c (crysis).

Thanks, Help...

If it's a defect with the card, then I'll just pay 107$ for Step Up, and get the GTX 280.

Try running the card at default settings (600/1500/1000). If the problem remains, send it to RMA.

Look, if your willing to just put it $107 you might as well get the 280GTX, i mean its better than the 9800GX2, and your looking at a pretty mad futureproof card....
but as said about your GX2, yeah i would most likely just go into your Nvidia control panel and use a default core clock, and work your way up. If that doesn't work, then its most likely a hardware concern, which you should defs take up with where ever you bought it from=)

Oh and one more thing...if it were the GPU card being overclocked too high...it wouldn't give you 1fps every 5 minutes...it would crash the game

That seems like artifacts showing up, thats a sign that either the card is defective or an unstable overclock.

The game does not always crash when a card has an unstable overclock, it usually only crashes/hard locks instantly when you bump the clock rates "extremely" high.

Well the issue is back, yet again.. This time, my CLOCKS are at the Facotry stock I have the (SSC edition) I still get the black lines, still causing my screen to freeze, screen goes black, then recovers.

I alt+tab right after that, and Vista said something like " Display Drivers have BLAH BLAH , and have recovered" Bad drivers maybe??? I don't want to Update to 175.19, there terrible with GX2 FPS in games...

Whats the BEST of the BEST Hacked Drivers? Link me please, and tell me what I need to do.

+rep for help

Bad psu, keep only 1 stick of ram, unconnect all your case fans except for the cpu and leave your case open. take off your x-fi ,underclock the cpu at 1.66ghz and try to run the game again.

Umm, how is it a bad PSU... When the card was working just fine before that... Well wait, this did start to happen after adding the new RAM..
