Overclocking limit?

Hey everyone, I decided to start oveclocking my computer. I started with my graphic card, but bumped into a slight problem. I was overclocking the core with Rivatuner and testing with ATITool and went up to 780, but when i tried 790 it read as 780 again on Rivatuner startup, ATITool and GPU-Z. I even tried putting the clocks to default and jumping to 790 and 800, but instead it read as 625 (default). So I raised the clock 1 by 1 to see the actual limit and it was 783. I even tried overclocking with EVGA Precision and the limit was 782. I also want to say that 783 had no errors in ATITool for 15 minutes.

The weirdest problem is that when I check hardware monitor in Rivatuner, the core clock reads 100? Although, GPU-Z reads it as 783.

Also using driver version 175.19

I'd say you're probably hitting your limit around there. As for it reading incorrectly, I'm not sure what might be causing that.

Is it specifically this graphic card I own? I'm pretty sure I could overclock the core a bit higher and seen others with the same model and/or manufacturer with bit higher speeds.

I tried oveclocking the memory and went up to 1100 and didn't bump into a limit. The limit could be a bit higher, but I'm fine with 1100.

Id say its the limit.. Possibly lack of voltage to the core. But its not the usuall problem. I would say try running some good intensive game for at least an hour solid at 725 core and see how it goes...

Each card is diff, and I have seen cores into the 800's, but usually some sort of volt mod is needed for that

It sounds like a decent OC tho.. I can do 720 on the core 1750 on the shader and 1000 on mem for benchies and no problems with ati tool, but it will crash in games. 655/1700/975 is my normal gaming 24/7 clocks, but with 2 of them the difference is not noticeable anyway
