Underclocked?

Thread Starter
Hey guys, a friend recommended this site saying you guys could help figure out why my computer seems to be underclocked.

CyberPower Inc
Windows XP Home Edition
Intel Core 2 CPU
6600 @ 2.40GHz
2.00 GB of RAM
Nvidia GeForce 8800 GTS

Tried messing around with the Jumperfree config settings changing the current FSB speed and memory speed but CPU-z showed everything stayed the same, and the computer would just run in safe mode.

Any kind of help/suggestions as to what I can do would be greatly appreciated

Thats SpeedStep at work
it lowers your multiplier to the lowest when its idle to save power

and if it isnt that, your multiplier in BIOS is only set to 6x as opposed to 9x

Orthos showed the core speed at 2400MHz, but cpuz showed the same

Go into your bios and disable speedstep. It might be called C1E. When you're not doing much it lowers your multiplier to save power. If you plan on overclocking turn it off, but if you're staying at stock speeds you might as well leave it on.

could be some sort of glitch with what CPU-Z is detecting then with your motherboard.

run them both together and it should say 2400mhz on cpuz
because if you're running orthos first, closing that, and then running cpuz, it'll revert back to power saving 6x

Didn't change the C1E option but I did disable Enhanced Intel Speedstep. And yeah if I run orthos and cpuz together they both show 2400MHz
