ZoneAlarm problems

Thread Starter
After having ZoneAlarm free for a while, version 7.0.473.0, i came back to my computer after letting it boot up for a minute and saw a bunch of "blocked connection" screens from Zone Alarm and Spybot not being able to update, which it had always been able to before. So i rebooted and same problem, no internet. Opened up Zone Alarm and brough the "Internet Zone Security" bar down to medium and bam! internet. So i thought it was a program glitch so I un-installed, reinstalled it with a whole different install package, same version though and this time even activated the 15 day trial of Zone Alarm Security Suite (no im not gonna buy it). And oddly enough, no internet. Bring it down to medium, internet. So i was perplexed and tried a few things.

- I have three programs controlling internet access, Avast Web Shield, K9 filter and Zone Alarm. I allowed k9 to act as a server but there were no options for avast but I assumed it didnt matter.

- Under Custom settings in Internet Security Zone, I checked the "Allow Broadcast/multicast" and "Allow incoming Ping" box to no avail.

Tried disabling Avast, still nothing. So I'm not at all sure what to do. I tried Comodo firewall, but after the install when i reboot, I get to the XP splash screen and it just keeps on loading there until I hard reboot. Uninstall Comodo, then it works fine. Do a chkdsk /r in repair console, registry cleans, nothing works. Any help or input would be great. Ill be baking in my computer-generated heat.
