Need help setting up vmware vista 64

Thread Starter
I'm trying to set up linux smp and I am having a problem. The guide for setting it up says that I need to install vmware server 1.0.0 however when I try to install it claims compatability issues with my os (vista bus 64) and even if I tell it to keep on the install fails.

The latest version installs fine however the bubble for selecting it as local isn't there.

So...I tried each version in increasing order hoping to find compatibility and the local bubble still intact version 1.0.3 works but no bubble.

Thats where I am now. Can anyone help?

Thanks in advance.

If I remember right, VMware server doesn't work well with Vista. Won't let you use the Local option.

Look into VMWare Player. I'm too tired to do a huge explanation, so maybe someone else will take the slack for me

I was having trouble getting it to work also. But vmware player works just fine in vista 64-bit using this guide.

Good luck and happy folding! Linux smp is SOOOO much better than winsmp, I'm so happy I switched.
