[ET] Gaming: Windows Vista SP1 vs. XP SP3 - Page 8

Now with my E8400 running at 4.2 GHz, Vista is running smooth as silk without any problems. It doesn't stutter and slow down as much as it did when I was using an E6300. Having newer hardware to go along with a newer OS is a good thing. Remember how slow XP was on old windows 98 hardware when XP first came out? It was a nightmare!

Don't blame Microsoft for a manufacturers inability not to create drivers for a product.

Name one camera manufactured in the last 5 years that doesn't work with Vista.

Just my 2 cents

Vista was built from the groud up with security in mind.

It is also quite a bit easier to use. You don't need to install raid drivers, hell you don't need to install any drivers. It will work out of the box with everything. When something goes "Not responding" more often than not it recovers, unlike XP.

Update is easier and more useful, it will update drivers and other software.

Vista is a nice OS.

Although I don't know much about DX10 I doubt it is hype. Is DX10 suppose to make the graphics look better or perform stability, performance, and create standards (Unified Shaders )? I think many people fasly expected DX10 to magicly make everything look better.
Well, if you like to see rendered objects cut jagged edges through particle effects, DX9 Bioshock is just peachy. DX10 is worth it for that reason alone IMO.

Vista is more secure, more responsive, and just all around better.

If windows wouldn't rape me everytime i tried to upgrade then i would give SP1 a go

First of all check your spelling ground isn't a very difficult word to spell. Vista is not a completely new code that everyone thought it to be. Sure the security was built from the ground up but the structure of vista was not. Use this example. You have a house with just the frame nothing else. There's the structure (NT code) and you finish the outside with thicker windows, doors walls, etc. There's your security build from the ground up. Hope i didn't lose you through that difficult metaphor.

I dunno, maybe its just me, but I've never had security problems with any of my systems regardless of OS.

Maybe I'm just lucky, or maybe it's because I don't frequent porn or warez sites and I'm careful about what I click on.
