[TS]Microsoft promises to fight Vista 'myths' - Page 4

I don't understand how people can feel that it does have a tarnished reputation. I mean honestly, you're 10 year old printer won't work with your new OS and you think it's the OS's problem. Hell to be honest, I love Vista's printer's installation because I've never needed to install a driver.

Get a MAC if you're 80 years old and only surf the net and check email. No power whatsoever under the hood. Weak, lame, and overrated.

Very true. For any serious enterprise-class deployment it's a Linux server and Windows workstations all the way........(maybe a Windows server)
Anyone who thinks Macs have any business outside of an art/music/movie studio is just kidding themselves.

Yes damn the kiddies, I guess you can always resort to name calling as a responsible adult right?

@100Gunner: No I don't do any media production except for recording, converting, and authoring video. My dad has a Q6600 with 2GB and it's plenty for his studio though. And he only paid like $700 for it. I'd rather pay out the ass on equipment/instruments.

Yes and no. We expand our WAN everywhere around the globe. We have used Linux in the past and frankly, the techs sucked so we ditched them. We use all Microsoft everything. Some say it's forced, but it just works easier. i wish we had more Linux here to get me some exp!

Most adults I know don't use terms like "interwebz" and other useless jargon to express their disagreement with the point being made.

BTW.. I didn't call you any names, I just spoke on the action and how it was perceived. However I guess you are the victim here right?

/sarcasm

On a side note, since you seem to want to debate these points... wouldn't it be offensive if I told you to "leave the internet" solely based on an opposing view on an issue?

Newsflash: The internet is available to everyone... and last I checked, I didn't see "Modki's" name on any TOS agreement to utilize the "interwebz".

LOL... and whatnot.

But enough about you.

From an IT standpoint, since someone brought up businesses, Vista when paired with Server 2008 gives you IMMENSE potential. We've currently got an eval server and three workstations setup and it's really fun to manage. We love it so much we just wish our software vendors would hurry up and fix the bugs with their software.

The company that handles our practice management software is working to get certified which will be great since that's what a majority of our users need to do their jobs only certain areas use specialty programs that will never run in Vista (let alone Windows XP for that matter). We've begun putting virtual machines up for those anyways. It's great that computers have come to the point where 1GB is a standard and I thank Vista for that too.

Interesting. I have noticed with 03 it isn't a fast to do basic functions, like manage Exchange, in fact it doesn't work at all haha. Is there a good reason to upgrade to 08? You seem to have some experience! =)
