Yeah we use our Windows XP machines to manage the 2003 server still. Only a few tools from the admin pack have bugs but not being able to do exchange tasks is frustrating. That's why we have the Vista machines pointed at the 2008 eval server. It currently works with our PACS system since it's java based and in fact our main radiology doctor has a Windows Vista x64 machine with 2x8800GT and a Q6600 with 4GB for viewing xray/mri images.

We'll have to do a bit of cleaning up before Vista becomes the main OS here but we know we'll have to switch to it soon enough, and even if we "just wait for windows 7" like every nub on the interwebz is chanting we'll still be ready for it by being vista compliant.

Lol, I wish the hospital I do tech support for were that forward looking. Hell, we just deployed SP2 a few months ago.

Finally, There should be free CPU and Graphics Card, etc upgrades for people with old computers, Its mainly people with Pentium III's trying to run Vista that caused the "IT RUNS 10000% SLOWER THAN XP!11oneone" myths.

If anything, at least on Guitar Hero III, Vista with SP1 runs faster than XP did for me.

I have to work on a Mac, i do photoshop type work, and i've never been impressed by the quality of processing or anything. And they are stupidly expensive and love proprietary crap.

They just got rid of XP and Server 2003 off our RIS servers. Kind of sucks, because that made it easy to install and people still want XP. You'd be surprised at the anti-Vista-ness here... And I work at Microsoft. It's funny but Vista gives us the least amount of problems and XP is kind of a pain in the butt lately. Windows 7 is pretty cool too, but umm... can't talk about that.

EDIT: Although a bunch of machines had an eval version of Vista SP1 installed that expired last week. I got inundated with tickets saying "ZOMG! Mah computerz is reboootin every 2hrs!" That sucked...
