Will this run a HD 4870?

Thread Starter
Hey guys

I have a Hiper Type-R 580W at the moment and has been running my sig rig perfectly.

However upon buying the HD 4870 (comes in a day or so), I found you need two pci-e connectors to run it. I have one dedicated PCI-e connector at the moment, and one splitter thingy that makes a molex into a 6-pin PCI-e connector.

Would this power supply (obviously using the splitter to make a molex into a 6-pin) be alright for the 4870?

Thanks

Yes. Not much headroom, but it'll run.

Nice.
Cheers
The wattage shouldn't be a problem, as the peak load is 630W which is more than enough.

I was just enquiring about the extra splitted-6-pin being adequite more than anything.

Ah, fair enough then It wasn't really the Wattage I was worried about.
It was just the idea of using a splitter for the 6-pin rather than a dedicated secondary 6-pin PCI-e connector.
