I'm not sure what you mean by optimize. But mine is running at 3.0ghz. My motherboard recently died so I am in the process of testing my system out with the new one. Once I get everything squared away, I plan on running Vmware + Ubuntu in order to get even more PPD from SMP.

Are you running SMP? Are you using all 4 cores (Check task manager, do you have the -smp flag in)?

My HD4850 (Sapphire/625mhz/993mhz/ddr3-256bit) is getting 3015 ppd on average, with my cpu set at 3,0ghz ( it does the same with the cpu @3.6ghz); this is a 1000 ppd increase over my old hd3870 .

I suggest you to have a look at this thread; it explains how to get the smp client to work on quads.

Find the install batch file, and run it.(you need a windows password here, if you don't have one, make one). When you run the install batch file, the first thing you do is just hit enter. Then it will ask for your password(you won't be able to see it, just type it and hit enter). It will ask you again for your password, do it again. Now you should see the sentence twice."If you see this twice, MPI is working - If you see this twice, MPI is working" If you see this your half way there.

Now go back into the folding directory and right click on the folding icon(little bubble looking icon). Now make a shortcut, right click on the shortcut and go to properties. In the target directory, at the end of the line, hit space and type in "-smp" without the "". Now start the folding application from the shortcut you created. Now all you have to do is set up the configuration. I will get that info for you, Buick made a post on that yesterday, I will look it up for you.

Edit: Here is Buicks post on how to configure.

"Here's an example:

The set up will look something like this:

User Name: [] Your folding name
Team Number: [] 37726
Passkey: [] You get this from Stanford via E-mail, after you request it!
Use proxy: [No]
Acceptable size of work assignments and work result packets: [normal/big] normal is default
Change advanced options: [Yes]
Launch manually service question: [No]
Core priority: [idle]
CPU usage requested: 100
Disable highly optimized assembly code: [no]
Pause if battery power is being used: [no]
Interval, in minutes, between checkpoints: [15] I use 5 minutes.
Memory: [push Enter to use the default; you don't have to adjust this]
Set -advmethods flag always, requesting new advanced scientific...: [Yes]
Ignore any deadline information: no
Machine ID: [1; unless you're running more than one client on the computer]
The following options require you to restart the client before they take effect...
Disable CPU affinity lock: [no] enter
Additional parameters: [] -SMP
IP address to bind core to: [push Enter]

If memory serves me, I think that is how the set up goes...

I hope this helped, :-)"

i'm running my q6600 through VMWare and i'm getting between 1400-1600 EACH INSTANCE depending on the WU.

so that totals to around 3000 PPD.
