I'm sure this has been said over and over, but I can't find it:
What is the most cost effective card for folding? Both in base price and electricity usage.
I want to get a folding rig running with some vid cards

If you get them used 8800GS or 8800GT should still hold this place.
And of cause anything similar: 9600 GSO (96 Shaders), 9800GT.
9800GX2 if you want to build a farm.
A bit more powerful are the 9800GTX+ and GTS-250.

GTX-260 is more expansive while it can get good PPD/W when running two clients.
But in general the G200 based Cards are not that much of a good deal for F@H.

I've noticed that 8800GSes are about $65 while GTs are $70-80.
Does anybody happen to know how much power they each draw, both stock and at an average overclock?

I believe the GS current consumption is ~115W OC'd on stock GPUv...the GT's are around 30-50W higher. Number of SP's and memory bus will have larger affects on current consumption than overall clock speed, or voltage.

Um, my GTX260 puts out 6900-7200PPD, although it's a BFG 55nm OCX which is the highest OC'd GTX260 they offer.

I'll get back to you on what kind of PPD my i7 puts out using VMWare of Ubuntu 64-bit as soon as I find a 64-bit image...
