Should I get a good video card

Thread Starter
Should I get a good video card if I do not currently play games that will utilize them to their capabilities?

Right now I'm looking at getting a prebuilt
http://www.costco.com/Browse/Product...lang=en-US&s=1
And buying a 8600GT

Or is the 8800GT worth it even if I'll be fine with the 8600?

Another option is to build my own computer..

The 8600 was a good card and can play all of last years gamnes fine and this years ok. Don't look at any new games though, its getting to the limit.

I bought an 8800GT while my old card was the 8600. It was worth it.

I highly recomend build your own. Post on here what to get or look at the many threads on how to pick.

That seems like a good computer unless the NVIDIA GeForce 7050 graphics is on the mobo (integrated). If it is then run away and run fast.

What are you using the computer for?

This all comes down to what you will use the PC for. If you do not play games but watch HD content then you will want a card capable of decoding HD content. Such as the 8600GT.

yes, 7050 = integrated
How's that bad O_O

I use the computer for web browsing, msn, games (low reqs), programming (sort of), some video editing sometimes but not really...

Well if you are performing those such activities then Onboard is fine for you. No need to go to another GPU solution.
