Is this a SATA 1 or SATA 2 drive ?
I am not exactly sure, here are the newegg links:

You can create a Bootable CD I think for this. There should be instructions on the DFI website concerning flashing a BIOS without a floppy drive.

I still think this is a setting issue.
Can you take pics of the appropriate BIOS screens for us?

Typical. Ok well when it comes to a BIOS flash the only other options are.

1. Install Windows on whatever HDD you can get working and flash through Windows...not 100% safe but I have NEVER had a problem doing that.

2. I think there is a method to use a flash drive.

Which screens are you looking to take a peek at?

I can indeed get my hands on a flash drive. What version should I be looking for?

Any that has to do with IDE or SATA.
Look for the latest BIOS.

Dude I think your mobo is borked. Unless you have gotten the mobo to recognize a HDD earlier it could just be a bad board.

I have NEVER seen a board (that is working) not recognize the HDDs (unless configured for RAID). If you have the board set to IDE you should see all the devices: CD ROM, FDD, HDD. In BIOS you do not need a BIOS Flash or drivers or anything for the board to see the HW. Trust me. I have owned two DFI boards of that ilk. They see the drives regardless.

The Drives could be IDE, SATA, whatever: the BIOS on POST will register ALL attached devices without need for drivers, OS anything.

If your board does not see the drives it's probably a bad board. It happens sometimes.
