My only issue with alot of other games mentioned is that the game play can be quite slow and cumbersome.
When it comes to sniping, it shouldn't be fast paced. At least, for the sniper.

I'm a M14 sniper in CoD4. Put a red dot scope on it and you will rape. This gives you the ability to actually go do something rather than just stand around with a scoped rifle. Also, I wish the shrubs and stuff didn't disappear at a distance like they do, nothing like thinking you are hidden when you are actually standing in the middle of a field.

Yeah, even with the detail on uber max, some details/extras still seem to disappear relatively close.

One should be LAYING around with a scoped rifle.

I'd much rather hole up in a good position and wait for someone to stumble into my view than run up with an assault rifle, having no idea what situation I'm running into.

I agree, I just dont like how alot of the games will allow you to sit there unnoticed for extended periods of time. This is why I like DOD and CS because as soon as you fire you are noticed. It feels more realistic with a balance that you know as soon as you fire you have a chance of being killed very quickly.

...and it's a sniper's job to be able to lay there unnoticed for extended periods of time. Not to run around an office building with a sniper rifle.

Yes but the ease that alot of games allow this is a bit unrealistic in my view. My understanding is that its very difficult in reality to be unnoticed especially after the first shot. But of course what does my sergeants from the Army even know about this.

Why does everyone keep quoting office? I have been playing counterstrike for a very long time and I know there are alot more maps.

Fine. Around a crowded warehouse. Around a tiny block of a middle eastern city. Around frickin' mayan ruins. Around any number of situations NOT suitable for a sniper rifle, or any sort of even moderately accurate sniper gameplay.

Squad DM? Maybe. Sniper? No.

How many SWAT snipers go running into buildings with the rest of the squad? They're posted on opposite rooftops and across streets. And they're basically always static.
