I do game, but I don't play games that require a good CPU/Graphics card.
Future proof means that you won't have to upgrade as quickly.

I dont know about the quad but the e7200 has instructions that let it encode videos faster, My e7200 at 3.2 Ghz can convert 4 movies at one and take about 20-35 minutes per movie depending on the length of the movie. Also as far as i can tell from benches and the forums quads dont really help in games, the only thing you will see a difference in is if you want to run a couple really intense programs as once, say converting a video and playing a game at one time while browing the internet and listen to music, and you expect it to still be snappy. With my e7200 i have a 1080p video as my dreamscene backround, i had internet explorer with 7 tabs, a HD DVD playing, and converting a 720p video and it was still snappy, and quick. Other then haveing a couple intense programs running at once, the only other use as of right now i see for a quad is getting your 3dmark score up, the highest score my e7200 has gotten in 3dmark 06, it 3600 at 4.0Ghz, and people get over 5000 without overclocking nearly as high as 4Ghz
