dvd problems

Thread Starter
so i bought this http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139424

and i can stick a blank dvd into my vista machine and i can format it to UDFS 1.5, 2, 2.1 and put files on to it fine.

but when i stick a non formatted and formatted dvd into the dell dimension c521 xp machine i have downstairs, the dell detects it, says it is dvd-r, but properties are that the used space is 0kb and free space is 0kb.

and i cannot put files onto the dvd. im just wondering if it's a dell machine problem, or if i need software to do to burn correctly.
