Overclocking a Phenom X3 8450 - Page 2

I would get a 5000BE or 6400BE if i were you. the 5000BE is the best price/performance ratio and the 6400BE is the best amd dual core you can get.

I have the same board and it can oc like theres no tomorrow. Anyways I recommand getting an Athlon if your planning to OC. As for your 8450 you should ask for a refund and get the 6000+

try reading this review for the M3A maktas http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=171582

Actually, after a lot of time, I managed to get 2.65 GHz running very stable using prime95 and AMD overdrive stress testing.

IMO, I would have to get 3.2 GHz+ on a K8 processor to match what I am getting now. I think @ $125, the X3 is a good deal, because you get K10 technology with less heat dissipation than a regular X4.

I will try to go higher when I get back tonite and need to mess around with my mem settings as it is currently slightly underclocked. I am planning to post my BIOS settings pretty soon

I got some head way and I am up to 2.6 GHz. The page from xbitlabs really helped me figure it out. Now it seems I have to tweak the memory settings.
Could you tell me how you managed to get past the 207 fsb on the m3a?
I am having all kinds of trouble with this tempramental board. Have flashed to 1101 bios and cannot increase voltage past 1.25, am at about 220fsb before the board stops booting but it isnt stable at this level. do i need to change ht and dividers etc>?
